Live Webinar with AASLH – Digital Archiving Grants
About this Webinar
Digital archiving and long-term preservation shouldn’t be a luxury reserved for large, well-resourced institutions. This free webinar will introduce participants to the Permanent Legacy Foundation and their Byte4Byte storage grant program, designed to support grassroots historical, cultural, and collective memory archiving initiatives and organizations. Byte4Byte offers grants for organizations doing this work that can include free digital storage and internship stipends to help them reach their preservation goals. We’ll cover several case studies, highlighting small to mid-sized historical organizations that have successfully used Permanent.org and the resources from this grant program to make their digital collections more accessible to their communities.
About the grant program: Through Byte4Byte storage grants for nonprofit partners across the United States, Permanent ensures future generations have access to the diverse and vibrant legacies of past and present individuals, organizations, and movements in their communities. Storage grants are available to United States nonprofit organizations with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status, which includes, but is not limited to, public institutions of higher education, state and local governmental agencies, cultural heritage organizations, and Native American tribal governments or organizations. Permanent especially encourages applications from organizations working on disaster relief efforts in their communities or at large; organizations engaging in pilot work, including first-time digitization/digital preservation efforts, public archives and exhibitions, and community-driven programs; and organizations and/or collections that represent and uplift underrepresented communities and narratives.
